Features and Benefits
What can you do with the SimpleC solution?
Seniors can reminisce over their interests as well as current and past events in their life. This facilitates socialization and improves the quality of family visits. With SocialC, seniors can even more actively reach out to family and friends, communicate via the internet, and train their memory for names and faces.
The care team has personalized interventions at their fingertips to remind seniors about upcoming community events, specific individual activities, give them a heads-up before care events, and redirect behaviors if necessary. The care team can also conveniently capture and share information about what care has already been provided that day.
Managers can access reports and graphs to more easily get a global view of care activities in the community.
How does the SimpleC solution help engage residents, for example to participate in activities?
The SimpleC solution cues individuals for activities, reminding them explicitly about upcoming events. Individuals are also subtly cued and motivated, for example, with delicious pictures of food at meal time shown on the Companion or Community Area Devices.
With the SimpleC solution you can also provide opportunities for conversations in the common areas. For example, you can spotlight individuals on Community Area Devices to help introduce them to the community. Or you can determine groups of residents with similar personal interests or histories and spotlight commonalities to spark conversation.
Can you keep couples and families together for longer?
With the SimpleC solution it will be easier to care for a loved one. Storyboards playing on the Companion aid starting a conversation. Interventions delivered through the Companion can also help completing daily tasks such as remembering to take medications, when to eat, and other events of daily life. All of these ease caregiver burden.
How will it affect my bottom line?
With SimpleC you use a non-drug alternative to engage residents, provide care, capture care services, and analyze care data. Results you can expect include:
- residents with increased activity attendance and reduced need for medication
- care staff that is less stressed, happier, and communicates better about care events
- satisfied families who you can show what specific care you have provided
- better overview over care activities that aid financial and human resources planning
- improved market differentiation
- a potential new revenue stream
Why do we need the SimpleC solution? Why should we pay for a service when we already provide quality care?
With the SimpleC solution you advance to the next generation of personalized care. You empower your care team in their daily care routines while conveniently collecting data about care activities you can then use for data analysis. You also provide tangible evidence of your care and best practice to potential residents and their families.
What is the SimpleC solution?
The SimpleC solution for communities uses behavioral technology for seniors to share life stories and interests, communicate, and be reminded about upcoming events and care activities. Memory and behavioral support can flexibly accommodate the range of needs from residents in independent living to individuals with dementia. The care team can capture and share care activities, and managers can pull reports. No such product currently exists in the market.
Who uses the SimpleC solution?
Different parts of SimpleC solution are used by different people.
Residents and families actively use storyboards and SocialC via the Companion when connecting to each other, their social circle, and the care team.
The care team uses the Care Station and Companion to remind or prepare residents about upcoming events, provide care, and capture care activities. The care team can also use interventions via the Care Station and Companion to redirect behaviors associated with dementia should that be desired and needed.
Managers mostly use the Data Manager functionality via a secured website for planning and financial purposes.
How do we use the SimpleC solution?
The Companion and Care Station are all touch screens. So all you need to do is to touch the screen and select from the choices that you see. The Community Area Devicesmay work a little differently depending on whether we use the TV in your common area.
How much does it cost?
We offer a low cost per resident per month. Everything is included except for wireless connectivity, which you have to provide. Contact us for details.
Will everything change with the SimpleC solution?
Yes and No. We work with what you have, that is, we use your existing calendars, care plans, life histories, and technology. What will be easier is to access and share that care information, and having another way to start conversations. Furthermore, the SimpleC Companion, Care Station, Community Area Devices, SocialC, Activity Reporter, and Data Manager will evolve to fit your likes, schedule, and needs.
Can we play storyboards on our computers?
To provide the best experience for your seniors, the storyboards, interventions, and SocialC can only be played or accessed through the Companion, Care Station, and/or Community Area Devices. We will also work with you to find good locations for these devices.
Is the Companion more than just a digital picture frame?
Absolutely! The storyboards that are played on the Companion or Community Area Devices are managed by us, consistently updated, and formatted. Above all, the storyboard is a toolset for improved quality of life.
We spend time with each individual to chronicle their life story and identify individual needs for support. We carefully select and test the media that we include to ensure that they have a positive effect. The timing of the media is just as critical as the selection, and we have extensive experience with both.
How is SocialC different from a brain game?
Brain games are generic, and SocialC is personalized. SocialC is a simple-to-use user interface for seniors with the goal of facilitating social interaction via the internet. Strengthening seniors' memory for names and faces is part of SocialC. The important difference to brain games is that the names and faces trained with SocialC are those of persons relevant to seniors’ lives.
Installation, or, how to put the system into place
What do we need to get started?
The only technology prerequisite is wireless internet connectivity. If you are not sure how to connect to the internet wirelessly, we can help you explore options and make decisions. Everything else you already have and simply share with us: residents’ life history, social records, and care plans.
How are you going to teach our care team?
We will provide in-service training for your care team who directly interacts with the different components of the SimpleC solution, such as the Companion or Care Station. We also will train the trainers, that is, we can provide background training to persons you designate.
What will you do to get us started?
We will come to your community and determine in which locations our technology best supports your work flow and blends into the environment. To chronicle life history and interests, determine schedules and specific needs, we will work with residents, their families, your care team, and existing records. Once we put the system in place, we will teach you how to use it, and then return regularly to ensure everything is working well and answer your questions. If you would like to be more actively involved, we can get you started and you can take over anytime you like.
When is the SimpleC installation complete?
The SimpleC solution is constantly evolving and changing because we keep adding new media. To ensure maximum efficacy, we will also visit your community regularly and ensure that everything is running smoothly.
Support
My care team does not know very well how to use a computer.
This is not a problem. You can interact with the device by touching the screen, and the interaction is learned very quickly. To make the interaction with the Care Station and Companion more accessible we also included pictures to go along with the text.
How long will it take to get us started?
We can get you set up in two weeks, provided you have wireless internet connectivity.
Who will do the technology support?
A large portion of our technology support will be completed over the internet, and you will not even know that it is happening. We also have a dedicated hotline number and a technical team that is available to troubleshoot just in case something should not work.
Who supports us after your installation? What can I expect?
We offer an ongoing service for both technology and the interventions. We have care specialists with a psychology background who are industry-trained and trained on the SimpleC method that will visit regularly and ensure everything is working well.
Do I need to purchase equipment as part of the solution?
No. Everything is included in a single monthly lease fee. You are only responsible for providing wireless connectivity.
Do I need to hire an IT person?
No, this is not necessary. We designed the SimpleC solution so it is simple for you to use. You do not need an information technology specialist or special computer knowledge.
How do we sign up?
Simply contact us and we can get started.

Where does the name SimpleC come from?
It comes from the idea of a "simple computer." We wanted to develop a technology that was simple to use, without barriers, a keyboard or mouse, and that benefitted seniors to support them in their cognition and community.
