Interventions
We gather information about the community schedule, individuals’ schedules, and residents’ needs. Then we combine this information with pictures, music, and voices that are meaningful to residents. The result is what we call personalized interventions.
Interventions are tested for positive engagement and will be displayed on one or a group of individuals’ Companion as per your instructions. Access interventions at any time you want via the Care Station or Companion. Depending on how much memory and behavioral support individuals would like or need, the interventions can:
Cue residents about community and individual activities
Schedule interventions to play automatically at a specified day and time to increase participation for regularly repeating activities.
Independent living residents may prefer to only receive reminders for instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) such as taking medications.
Residents of memory care benefit from cueing of activities of daily living (ADL) such as:
Recurring community activities, for example:
-
-
- getting up in the morning, bathing
- breakfast, lunch, dinner
Individuals’ activities, for example:
-
-
- Devotions
- Activity classes
- Hair stylist appointments
Example: Pictures of breakfast will signal to individuals that it is time to eat and whet their appetite.
Provide advance notices for upcoming care events
Our personalized interventions prepare your memory care residents for upcoming care events. For example, hearing a Trusted VoiceSM that says “It is time to take a bath” helps inform residents in a more positive manner. This provides a pleasant rather than distressing engagement for the individual. It also makes it easier for the care team to complete recurring tasks such as bathing and housekeeping.
Access interventions at any time you want via the Care Station or Companion, by touching the screen and selecting from the topics available.
Orient residents to their surroundings and redirect challenging behaviors
We assess individual residents’ needs for behavioral support and then create interventions that you can access anytime. For example, an intervention may orient an individual to time and place or help you redirect challenging behaviors associated with dementia.
To customize our interventions we assess individuals’ characteristics such as:
- appetite
- energy level
- mood
- medication
- behavior and care needs
